What’s your relationship with music?
I've loved music my entire life, and have gone through various phases (classic rock, blues and rap when I was in high school, pop in college, and then house music for the past several years.) Am currently a very big house music fan, disco, and funk-influenced house. Claptone and Tensnake are my favorite house artists. Music is such a central part of our lives, whether we're actively engaged in that or not.
What brought you here?
A friend got a group of us the Beatmaker class for Christmas, knowing that we're all interested in music, particularly electronic music.
What was it like?
Great! Seeing how the music gets made, and the sheer variety and volume of sounds available made your head spin. In the beginning, playing around with creating drum beats was particularly mind blowing, as it 1) showed me what that machine I've seen DJ's poking at endless times actually does, and 2) also how computers and tech have really democratized music production.
Who or what inspires you?
Books and other creative people who are using their passion for interesting experiences that linger with you afterward.
Any future musical plans?
Continue using music in all facets of my life as everyone needs their own soundtrack.
What are your other loves?
Literature, traveling, cooking and sleeping extremely late.
One unknown fact about you.
I cry in movies all the time. It's like I turned 30, and I immediately became a complete mess anytime something emotional happens in a movie. Particularly on planes. Something about the high altitude and Pixar combo makes me somewhat awkward to sit next to on long flights.
