It's not surprising to see that the music world is still in deep shock following the untimely passing of Minneapolis music legend Prince. The influential performer first gained international notoriety due to his "Purple Rain" hit, but he went on to release an incredible catalog of music and sell millions of albums across the globe. His sound paved the way to crossover music, meaning that he was one of the first pop stars to make different genres more accessible to a mainstream audience, all within his eclectic vision and ideas, His tracks are a blend of funk, pop, rock and dance, and it seems like there were no rules shackling the performer's uncommon thirst for musical diversity and his revolutionary genius.
Electronic music as a whole owes much to Prince's legacy, particularly for his influence in the resurgence of dance-based mainstream hits. We handpicked some of our favorite electronic music remix, so you can hear how the electronic music world paid tribute to Prince and his sound.
Jamie Lewis turned "Rock and Roll Love Affair" into a great dance-driven track.
Maybe not as emotional as the original, but this version of "Purple Rain" features some beautiful atmospherics.
A classic Prince track under a brand new light: we're sure the artist would have loved this tribute to his song, "I Wanna Be Your Lover".
Celaya turned one of Prince's most emotional tracks into a groovy electronic number. Enjoy this version of "When Doves Cry".
