Jamie is a native New Jerseyan who works for Sony Music making vinyl records.
Describe your relationship with music. What music do you listen to?
I’ve always loved music above everything else, it’s what I live and breathe every day at work and at home. I try to listen to everything I can, but my favorites are classic rock and recent EDM (like Madeon and Porter Robinson.)
Why did you come to The Foxgrove?
I’ve always been interested in DJ sets and live mashups, which prompted me to take the Instant DJ class.
What was it like?
It was a really great time. David was awesome at breaking every aspect of the process down into an easy-to-digest form, whether it was each individual section of the DJ controller or the software we were working with. We got to spin a small DJ mix of our own and learn how to make everything flow nicely together.
Who/what inspires you?
Definitely nerd culture. Anime, video games, books, all of it. I’ve been a nerd for as long as I can remember and it’s not going anywhere. Plus with all the awesome new music coming out of the scene (such as Chiptune and a lot of EDM-crossover), it’s worth keeping an ear on.
Any future musical plans?
I still play guitar and piano and could never give up either, but I also want to work with electronic music and incorporate everything I know into some interesting digital pieces.
What else do you love besides music?
Nerd culture, as I said before, but also working out, making coffee (pour-over is my favorite method), and hanging with my dog (150lb Great Dane named Mia).
One unknown thing about you.
I probably cuddle with my dog too much, and definitely, use plenty of baby talk.
