Describe your relationship with music. What music do you listen to?
I’ve always been interested in arts, music, and anything creative as a kid, I also studied music at the Conservatoire de Paris. While this is classical training, I enjoy a wide variety of music, from today’s pop songs to classical music and anything in between. I travel and listen to music from other countries as well.
What brought you here?
As a photographer, I’m most interested in the creative process and have always had great admiration for the DJs I’ve seen, especially in how they mix sounds and create their own music. Models I’ve worked with also work as DJs at various venues in NYC and LA. When a friend of mine told me about the Instant DJ class at The Foxgrove, I immediately signed up.
What was it like to take classes here?
The classroom was spotless, bright and inviting. Unlike college, when I’d sit in the back to sleep, I picked a seat in the front, to better listen to the instructor. She was a professional DJ with extensive knowledge and experience—and, as it turned out, great patience with us beginners.
The class started with a brief history of DJing. Then the fun began. Once we learned about the software and controller, we got to practice right away. We got to use each technique after it was explained, so it was a very hands-on experience.
What inspires you?
Being a photographer, I love to take pictures for fun, not for work. That’s why I always carry a camera with me. Now that autumn is here, I’m always in Central Park enjoying long walks and taking pictures of the colorful leaves. Whenever I need to get inspired, Central Park is where I go to find my Muse.
Share a fun fact about yourself.
While I love music, both listening to and playing—and now creating DJ mixes—I must confess that I really, really cannot sing at all. Hopefully, you won’t ask me to sing for you…
