As a DJ, there are more ways to be political than an official endorsement. You could remix a stump speech. You could throw a fundraising dance party. Or you could simply follow one of the candidates on the campaign trail, throwing down beats for every big win.
Mel Sandico, a.k.a. Mel Cavaricci, a.k.a. D.J. Mel, opted for that last one. No, he’s not a spin doctor in the traditional sense. He’s a DJ who was recently inducted into the Austin Music Awards Hall of Fame, and has worked the decks everywhere from parties to music festivals to football games to the 2011 Tour de France. Oh, and Election Night 2012.
Of course, there’s more than one way to spread a political message. Got something to say? Check out The Foxgrove’s beginner-friendly DJ class.
